I’ve had a camera in my hand since circa 1982, and have been studying and active in the art of photography since 1993 when I bought my first “real” camera, a Nikon film camera. I learned how to shoot on film, and I’m grateful for that time and all that it taught me. Today I shoot with whatever I have in my hand at the time, sometimes digital, sometimes film, and most likely it’s my iPhone.

I have lived all over the country, with most of my roots in Alabama, and I call the Auburn/Opelika area home. Over the years I’ve loved my time living in California, Texas, Florida, New York, and various other places, but Auburn will always be home to me. I’ve had the privilege of traveling all over the world from Australia to Uganda and everywhere in between. This has given me a unique perspective on different cultures and ways of life I could never understand without having been there, and it’s impacted my photography tremendously.

To me, photography is a simultaneous merging of art and life. The resulting image, captured in a fraction of a second, shows proof of our existence, and the beauty of our Creator. Photography is all about capturing a moment in time, that without that image, would likely be lost to history. It shows the emotion, the pain and beauty that is this life. It show the human spirit, and the willingness to look beyond our differences. I strive to incorporate these elements into my photography every time I press the shutter.

As a photographer, I’m always trying to create that unique image, and I’ve reinvented myself photographically many times over the course several decades. I’ve specialized in nature, aviation, portrait, worship, concerts, low light, macro, street photography, and many other unique genres. Some previous clients include ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Equifax, Auburn University, Catalyst Conference, Craig Groeschel, Seth Godin, and many non-corporate individuals.

As of this writing, just shy of the year 2020, I have taken more than half a million images, each one an expression of my view on life. Right now I’m most passionate about capture images of daily life, photography that would mainly be considered street photography. I’m focused on documenting life in and around the Auburn/Opelika (I-85 Corridor) area, but am always interested in any location. I’ve studied the greats in the field like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Susan Sontag, Vivian Maier, and so many actively producing photographers like Eric Kim and others, they have all helped shape my style and it continues to develop even after shooting for so many years.

My personal mission is to make what you are passionate about successful. My passions in life, that thing that surrounds me daily and pushes me forward is my love of the Lord, my family, and my hobbies like, photography, baseball, and collecting vinyl (yes that’s still a thing), and music. I’ve been in the working world for about 35 years now and have business experience ranging from the airlines, to the tech industry, to non-profit organizations.

I have over twenty-five years of professional business experience from the airline industry, the tech industry, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. With a wide range of skills and experience at my disposal I enjoy helping others achieve their goals and objectives by successfully equipping them to reach that next level. I’m current on staff at Cornerstone Church in Auburn serving as their Director of Communications and AVL Productions.

I’m fortunate to be in such a beautiful place like the Auburn-Opelika community. I have had the opportunity to live and work all over the world, giving me a worldwide perspective on different cultures and ways of living. Specifically, I’ve been working with partners in small local communities in Uganda on everything from infrastructure projects to technology networks for a growing university. I look forward to connecting with you.

It’s hard to put into words what God has done in and with my life, what all I have done and have yet to do, but collectively this site, my blog, is my honest look at life over the past 10-20 years or so. You can read my personal testimony here. As much as anything else here on this site, I hope it is an honest look at what I call life from my vantage point.

I’ve had a camera in my hand since about 1982, and have been shooting seriously since 1993. To me, there is just something so satisfying about being able to create and produce an image that never existed before. As a photographer, I’m always trying to create that unique image. Some previous clients include ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Equifax, Auburn University, Catalyst Conference, and Seth Godin. While I will and have shot everything from live events to senior portraits, my focus right now is on candid story telling, from mission assignments to street photography.

I am happy to license my current images for your personal or public use. If you would like to use any of my copyrighted images for any reason, please contact me so we can discuss your needs. I have studied photography for almost three decades now, and have everything from nature to sports to people, so if you don’t see it below, chances are I probably have it in my stock of images.     I am also a seminary student at Liberty University Online and in the midst of a ministry plant in Bedford, IN. The reason I am contacting you is that I have found some of your DSMN 500 WA essays to be a good guide in helping me get an outline and direction for my papers. I am working on my “Discipleship Ministry Project” and I could use any advice or direction that you may have. I know what my ministry project will be, however, I am a visual learner “what should my finished project look like” FYI “you do awesome blog work” I have a blog but I am not a blogger. I keep ministry updates on it and that is about it, however, when time allows I would love to be more involved

    We have a professionally published video on the home page that tells all about our ministry, we have secured the building and location just this week. Praise God.

    I would like to inquire about an image of yours, known to me only by the image file title of “great-horned-owl1.jpg”. The image in question was posted to your blog on May 02, 2008. The reason for my inquiry is as follows:

    As an artist, I have been selected to donate a selected work for a silent-auction fund-raising event. All proceeds from said auction are to be allocated to the construction of a skateboard and bicycle park in our community. As such, the medium that we, the artists, have been provided with, is that of a skateboard deck. After weeks of conjuring up various ideas for this platform, I have now narrowed my selections down to two options. One of these options, is that of an owl. After searching Google Images for various reference images, I became quite intrigued by the aforementioned photograph, and would possibly like to pursue a painted rendition for my donation.

    If you could please contact me with regards to this image, it would be greatly appreciated.

  8. I stumbled upon your site via the “Life, Leadership & Faith” blog. I really enjoy it. I was completely surprised when I started seeing all these Auburn pictures being that I graduated from there in 1991. I was already liking your posts but that sold me. 🙂

I really loved your photo of the snowflakes on the window called Snowflake Photo on a Frosted Window and I was wondering if I could use it. It will be properly cited in MLA format.
